Heart Disease
Diseases of the heart include Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), commonly called hardening of the arteries. Coronary indicates the vessels of the heart. If these vessels of the heart become narrowed and prevent blood flow and oxygen through the heart, this may result in chest pain and possibly heart attack. According to the Centers for Disease Control, Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm
My question is why? Why, when so much of what we put it through, is or may be avoidable. We can not avoid aging, genetics, or family history. However, the keyword that we are addressing here is avoidable. We have choices. We can make decisions about some of the things we choose to do or not to do. Part of our goal in life is to live it as healthy as possible. To live a heart-healthy lifestyle, we need to develop and maintain Heart Healthy Habits.
If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, then follow the treatment planned for you to control your condition. If you have high blood pressure, take the necessary steps to manage your pressure. If your cholesterol is high, follow the treatment plan by your health care provider to lower your levels. Obesity, smoking, and stress definitely require lifestyle changes to control and manage.
Plan today to do what it takes to protect and save your heart from disease and deterioration. Take the steps needed to prevent chest pain, heart attack, and strokes. Take steps to prevent your arteries and veins from clogging up thus preventing blood from flowing through them to your heart and the rest of your body. No blood flow to and from the heart equals No oxygen flowing through the essential parts of your body. Simply put, No blood flow and No oxygen, equals potential heart disease.
